The Hard Rock Hotel in Hollywood, Florida is host to over 14 places where guests can have breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We stayed for one night in a luxury room. Dinner reservations were made weeks in advance at KURO. This award winning, new-style Japanese restaurant uses both locally sourced and imported ingredients.
The KURO restaurant has a theater-style dining room, which includes a bar and lounge, a chef’s table, a sushi bar, a private dining room and floor-to-ceiling windows that give the indoor dining space an al-fresco feel. Their menu includes a Kaiseki menu as well as a traditional Japanese multi-course dinner. Sharing is encouraged.
We started with Edamame (7), and Shishito Bonito (12). Next, I enjoyed the Chefs Choice Sashimi Omakase (65). RG had the Wagyu Taco, a spicy dish with shallots, cilantro with a aji Amarillo aioli (18). He topped off his dinner with the Tenderloin (56). We enjoyed a French wine together.
All in all, it was a good meal with one big problem. I was served first when we should have gotten our meals at the same time. I managed to finish my whole meal while RG was waiting to be served. We brought this problem to our waiter’s attention several times however I ended up basically eating alone. The waiter did eventually serve RG his dinner and gave me an extra Nigiri as an apology for the error however in a restaurant that Zagat quoted as one of the top 10 restaurants to try… this was a blatant mistake.
Next time (assuming there will be a next time), we’ll enjoy the hotel but go to one of the other restaurants on the premises. Main # 866.502.7529.
