The Actors’ Playhouse at the Miracle Theatre in Coral Gables is presently showing Sean Grennan’s NOW AND THEN.
It’s centered around love and life and focuses on how the ‘Last Call’ might change your life. The main character is Jamie who is an aspiring pianist, however presently working as a bartender to make ends meet. One evening a stranger offers him and his girlfriend (Abby) $2,000, to sit and have a drink with him. A totally unpredictable adventure is about to bloom.
Presented in 2 acts, the first act is 55 minutes long while the second act is 43 minutes long. Interestingly, we didn’t hear a peep from the audience during the whole first act. Then once the second act started to unroll, slight murmurs of perception were suddenly heard from the attentive audience.
Actors Stephen Trovillion, Kristian Bikic, Mallory Newbrough and Laura Turnbull are superb. They beautifully develop each character.
