Art Wynwood kicked off Presidents Day Weekend on February 16th with a wondrous art show. The Coconut Grove Arts Festival followed on February 18th with 3-day crowds of 100,000 plus. For flying Kite-Art Days aficionados, there was the Haulover Park 25th annual extravaganza on both the 18th and 19th while the Chinese New Year Festival dazzled spectators with the Lion and Dragon Dance, demonstrations in calligraphy, arts and crafts and acrobatic performances at the Miami Dade College Kendall Campus.
What to do? Where to go? Art Wynwood was the blasting off place for many VIP art lovers. Art Wynwood celebrated its sixth edition with dynamic works from the underground street movement and emerging young, renowned contemporary and modern artists.
On Sunday 2/19/17 Cey Adams, a New York City native, who emerged from the downtown graffiti movement, talked about his recent series of American flag paintings. His works reveal the rich histories and tradition of the African diaspora in America. “I started teaching and I want to share my info. My flag series is an homage to Jasper Jones.
