South Floridians are going to be able to experience a sensory extravaganza this month.
Openings at The Wolfsonion, plays at the Miracle Theatre, Festivals, Boat Show, Gallery openings, Food Festivals, music on rooftops and plenty more if you too want to be happily exhausted.
Art Wynwood welcomed guests with a VIP preview on the 13th, benefiting The Institute of Contemporary Art, (ICA Miami). Over 60 galleries participated. Check out the shots.
This year we were able to stroll into Art Wynwood without the usual push and tug, A polite staff easily welcomed everyone with smiles and attentiveness while serving guests with a flute of genuine Moet et Chandon Champagne. Hors d’oeuvres were also making the rounds but sadly we weren’t close enough to enjoy. Unexpectedly and gladly we encountered my friend, artist Jim Goodwill at the front entrance. He’s an encyclopedia of art information and always fun to be with.
First night is usually a way for us to run into friends who we haven’t seen in a while. If you can return a day or two later to ‘really’ view the art and speak to gallery owners and artists. Most of the galleries are local (Florida). The works are imaginative, creative and fun. The last day of the show is a good negotiating day for deals if the works are still available. Art Wynwood worth the drive there.
