YoungArts Gallery welcomed guests for the opening reception of  “Education as the Practice of Freedom,” curated by Jasmine Wahi recently.

Examining ideas based on bell hooks’s book “Teaching to Transgress: Education as the Practice of Freedom,” this exhibition  includes collage, installation, painting, print, sculpture and mixed media works by YoungArts alumni that address the phases of ‘transgressive’ education and prompt contemporary and forward-thinking discourse on the subject.  Jasmine Wahi, Leo Castaneda and Juniel Solis (all based in Miami), and William Jordan, (based in Minneapolis).
