The name that caught my attention when I received the e-mail was MATTA.  The rest of the artists included in this ‘pop-up’ show, was blissful frosting on the cake.

PHILLIPS invited VIP guests to Palm Court in the Design District recently to view exceptional, eclectic, masterpieces of contemporary art.  Spanning over 50 years, this adventurous arts endeavor, brought modern works created by artists such as Carmen Herrera, Ernesto Neto, Gabriel Orozco, Amelia Pelaez and of course Chilean master Roberto Sebastian Antonio Matta Echaurren to Miami.

“We are delighted to showcase the strength of this Phillips Latin America show in Miami, a city that has become Latin America’s nexus with the United States and a vibrant region of art collecting in our field” said Kaeli Deane, Head of Sale, Latin American Art. “The works on view reveal the depth and breadth of abstraction in Latin American art and demonstrate Phillips’ commitment to this genre.”

Many of the works in this exhibition were united by spatial relationships through the exploration of color and light.  In addition to displaying intergenerational exchange between artists, this show engaged the viewer with creations that ranged from intimate to monumental.
