Excesses during the holiday season are OK.  We need to enjoy. You all have my permission to over indulge. 

The pain and shame will follow however if we don’t think about it, maybe the guilt will go away in 2017.

Corine and Joel Lefebvre are the new owners of the Buena Vista Deli French Bakery, located in the upper Design District area.  They have brought in pastry Chef Jeff from Montreal, Canada and he is amazing on so many levels.  Having paid his culinary dues by working with some of the best chefs in South Florida, Jeff is now in charge of the BVD kitchen, and believe me… he is hot.

Recently we visited the deli for some tastings and we weren’t disappointed.  Foie Gras was served, nestled on small squares of Jeff’s light pastries.  “I died and went to heaven” was my reaction.  The edibles were wonderful when the prior owners were there.  Today the food is beyond delicious.  Fresh, creative and house made.

Guests of BVD can sip a beverage in the quaint dining room and can order a sandwich or salad for lunch.  People who work in the area are often seen having a late afternoon snack and just relaxing.  Get there for a colorful dinner with no pretense and good service.  Their daily menu items, and the copious list of preparations are written in white chalk on their painted cabinet black boards.   Prices are affordable although some of the elaborate pastry dishes can be slightly pricey.  Remember when you want quality you get what you pay for.
