There are a number of really good restaurants in the newly manifested Midtown in Miami.  Five years ago, the area was home to anonymous containers waiting to be sent to the Port of Miami and elsewhere. Grass filled railroad tracks and limited night-time lighting, discouraged anyone from ‘crossing the tracks’ into the adjacent Design District and Midtown.

Today, Midtown is one of the most amazing areas on the planet.  Huge tents spring up within days, easily housing vast important art shows.  Restaurants have emerged, offering patrons delicious treats and superb wines in exceptional environments, catered by tons of professional wait staff experts and knowledgeable kitchen crews.  So what’s not to love?

Stores, more stores and fun walking around Midtown have ultimately demanded creative watering holes.  Recently, after dragging ourselves through miles of great art exhibitions during Art Miami, Red Dot, Context, Miami Projects, plus a gazillion small art galleries thriving for our attention, we suddenly had an urge to drink and I mean drink.

Loud Mexican music, salsas, lingering onion and garlic aromas and the red and green peppers chopped up by the chef accompanied with plenty of really greasy home-made yummy chips where (even if you’re not Hispanic) might finding you saying, “Ay mama, quiero tacos y enchiladas”…  Welcome to LIME Fresh Mexican Grill at 3425 NE 2nd Ave., in Midtown, Miami.

So we plopped our sorry butts down onto the high stools in the center of the eatery and waited.  A nice waiter directed us towards the ordering line in front of the place and said, “Just ask for what you want and we’ll bring it to you”. Ten minutes later we were enjoying 4 cold bottles of Corona beers, guacamole & chips for two, for just $22.00. The wait staff was running around making sure everyone was content and needless to say…everyone seemed pretty happy.

OK. It’s not the ultimate in great cooking that might cost you $200, a plate. It’s just fun, fast, food that pleases the taste buds and makes you say…”Viva Mexico”.  They offer a vast variety of dishes which include tacos, enchiladas, pepper laden salads and chili dishes. It’s fresh and delicious and calms the eager palate.  By the way, when we arrived at about 6:30 p.m., on a busy Saturday night, there were 2 or 3 people in line ordering.  When we left, 45 minutes later, about 30 people were lined up outside the front door, very patiently waiting to order.  Now that’s a testament.   Lime Fresh Mexican Grill, Midtown is located at 3201 N. Miami Ave., Miami, 33132.  No reservations needed and they have an outdoor patio for people watchers.  Call: 305 576.5463 for details.
