Day 12 and our sea going vacation is rapidly coming to an end.

Aruba is the western most Caribbean island, located 18 miles off the coast of Venezuela and 42 miles west of Curacao, Aruba is approximately 75 sq. miles total.  The island is 20 miles at its widest point and 6 miles at its longest.  It’s always sunny here and Arubans are known for their friendliness and hospitality.

Again we opted to stay close to the ship and just walk around the downtown area.  There are plenty of casinos, stores, street vendors, restaurants and eye catching views of the architecture which reminded me of elegant pink and white wedding cakes. There is also a free trolley that runs through the central part of the port area however it’s slightly confusing because the conductors take a long break between each 20 to 25 minute trip.  Basically they disappear and riders are left to wait and wonder.

By this time many of the ship’s passengers just want to linger in one of the many Jacuzzis or repose on one of the numerous lounge chairs. This is when e-mail addresses are exchanged, tips are given to the helpful crew and suitcases get packed. Two more days at sea and it’s back to reality.

Hats off to everyone on the Celebrity Eclipse who made our vacation so memorable.

Here’s a tidbit. When leaving the ship we found out that buses from the Port of Miami to MIA only costs $10 p/p.  We live less than nine minutes from the port and our taxi driver charged us $36 to get us home. Go figure.
