Moderator Joel Hoffman introduced the evening’s guests to the 70 plus audience attendees.

Panelists Robin Bachin, Sharon Gless and Nathaniel Sandler started the evening’s READ, reminding guests about Deering’s legacy to South Florida.  Visitors were first enticed with a Happy Hour Fundraiser and then promised a star filled evening in the magnificent palace that is Vizcaya.  It didn’t disappoint.

Guests wandered throughout the decorated rooms while the Cash Bar, located in the East Terrace served an assortment of beers and wines. Live music by DJ ODM of Dandy Rock Club, belted out some great tunes as strollers sat on the stone pier and enjoyed the view of the Miami Skyline at night.

It was truly one of those magical soirees that inspire the imagination.  Sharon Gless, (Award winning stage, film and TV Actress), was mesmerizing.  Her voice entranced us as she read passages from Big bosses (eBook, ePub), von Althea McDowell Altemus Memoirs.

Vizcaya is presently celebrating 100 years of history.  Joel Hoffman, Executive Director of Vizcaya said, “These cultural events are part of our expansion. I think there’s such an exceptional space to give people an opportunity to view Vizcaya in a completely different way over the next century. We just really want everyone to appreciate Vizcaya as an accessible and vital cultural hub. Now is the time for change.”
