No one wants to get sick. However life happens and it isn’t always what we wanted or expected.
In mid-November of 2016 the U of M’s new state-of-the-art, 200,000 sq. ft. Lennar Foundation Medical Center opened its doors. Senior Vice-President for Health Affairs: Steven M. Altschuler (M.D.) said, “This is a new concept in health care. It will revolutionize each patient’s experience. We offer a wellbeing guide uniquely prepared for each patient. This is the future of health care.”
The facility will provide easy access to the specialty care of University of Miami physician scientists with minimally invasive techniques and personalized treatments.
The Lennar Foundation Medical Center is made possible by the generosity of The Lennar Corporation created in 1989 with the express purpose of giving back to the communities in which their homes were built. During the dedication ceremony, Marshall H. Ames, Chairman, The Lennar Foundation said, “We want to leave the world a bit better.”
The patient experience will be very different than any other in this area, incorporating music, art, all-new infection control, and unique approaches that redefine health care. A multidisciplinary facility, The Lennar Center will incorporate Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center care, experts from Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, the University of Miami Sports Medicine Institute, a performance program, EXOS, a first coming to South Florida and a variety of other U-Health specialties.
The entrance display’s over 200 hand-blown glass ibises in an iconic shape that hang from the high, multi-level ceiling. It’s the third largest sculpture of its kind in the U.S.
The Center is located at 5555 Ponce de Leon Boulevard, Coral Gables 33146, Fl.
