The Marine Garden at Vizcaya suffered traumatically after Hurricane Andrew in 1992.

Then as if to add insult to injury Hurricane Wilma brought in floods to the barely above sea level garden. Original owner James Deering created the marine area for his exotic tropical fish collection. After 25 years this aquatic oasis is once again open to visitors.

Today both the Marine Garden and the larger garden are in the process of being restored.  Plants, cobble stones and railings are receiving a much needed facelift and the walls are getting reinforced.

During the summer weekends, enjoy the delectable Joy Wallace brunch prepared by Chef Elgin Woodman (This email address is being protected from spambots.
